Color Photography
This image was posted for the color photography project. I enjoyed this photo the most for this project because it shows contrast between the dark clouds and the lighter clouds. Also I like how the American flag is all beaten up with the dark background. It tells a story of how the flag has gone through hard times at the beach. I think small bit of color though out the photo makes it more powerful because it is not full of vibrant colors.

Fashion Portraits
This image is for the fashion portraits project. I chose this image because it focuses on the hat that the model is wearing and her eyes. In magazines the models are always using their eyes to grasp readers and I liked how my model did that in this image. This image captures the essence of the hat because it shows the stitching and the detail of the hat which, is what fashion photographs are supposed to do.

Shadow and Poem
I chose this picture to upload to my blog because I liked the representation of love through sign language. I think personal expressions through sign language mean more than the words themselves. I think this because actions speak louder than words and sign language is a stronger way to communicate than speaking. Also the poem I chose has a very deep meaning that I really like. I think the image goes along with what the poem is stating very well.
Film Noir
I chose this picture because it really tells a story. The lady is reading a magazine about stress free holiday party planning and she fell asleep. I think the lady was so stressed out about the holidays that she wrapped her self up in the magazine to get away from the rest of the world. Also she is outside which makes it more peaceful. This image was shot for film noir because it tells a story and also it was taken with an ISO of 1600 from a low angle.

Environment Project!
This photograph was taken for the environment project. I love this picture because it shows a tree that is becoming dormant and a construction truck in the background. This shows how humans are always changing the world that they live in and the environment is also changing at a constant rate. I used the camera's manual focus to have the camera only focus in on the tree and not the truck which I think makes the image stronger.

School as Architecture
This picture is for the Architecture project. This image is my favorite because it shows the school from an angle that you would not see on an everyday basis. This picture was taken by placing the camera on the ground and look up at the building. I like how the address of the school is in the picture because it shows the detail of the building and the different angle.

Camera Self Portrait Project
The concept of the project was to take pictures of your camera without any evidence of a human in the photograph. I chose this picture because you have to search to find the camera. This image if of my camera in the full length mirror in my room and the camera is taking a picture of the bathing suits because the camera is getting ready to go swimming.

7 Sins Project
5 Senses
These images were taken for the 5 senses project. I enjoyed taking these pictures because I had to think about what I was going to take pictures of. The tase image is of kisses which I placed on my kitchen table. I like how this image is some what in focus and other parts of the image is out of focus. This show shallow depth of field. The hearing image is very cool because the eyes on the CD case makes it seem like that person is listening to the music.

Artist Statement-Part 3
Born in Arlington, Virginia on October 8, 1990, Sarah DiNardo is a student at Washington-Lee High School. She is a junior in the class of 2009. Her education background of photography consists of one full year of photo and she is continuing her second year of photo this year at Washington-Lee High School. She has always been interested in taking photographs but her skills were not developed until last year in photo one. She is now learning more about digital photography in photo two. She has a very open mindset when it comes to taking pictures. Her ideas develop when the instructor gives the class a project to complete. Sarah thinks about what would be interesting and compelling to shoot. She tries to take the project the instructor gives and then add her own details to it and make it more creative. Through her first year of photo Sarah progressed from just wanting to take pictures to thinking about would be artistically compelling to shoot and interesting for the viewer to look at. Sarah is motivated to take photos because she wants to express her interests and her point of view to the audience that is looking and the photographs. Another reason Sarah takes these pictures is so that she can learn more about how to shoot film and others can critique her work to help he become a better photographer.
She takes picture using a 35 mm SLR camera with 400 speed T-Max black and white film. She develops film by hand and prints her photos by using Photoshop Elements on E-Mac computers at Washington-Lee. She creates contact sheets using Photoshop elements. She uses an Epson printer to print her contact sheets and pictures. She has also just purchased a Cannon Rebel XTI digital camera. She uses a tripod occasionally when taking formal portraits and panoramic pictures. The pictures Sarah takes reflect her personal life because she takes pictures of the pool and picture of Washington- Lee. She takes these pictures because she loves to swim and she is a student at Washington-Lee and she wants to show the audience who she is and what she finds important. She also takes pictures of the environment she lives, due to the fact that she lives in Washington, DC she takes pictures in the city to show her hometown.
There are many artists that inspire her artwork. She is a fan of Ansel Adams because of his use of great depth of field in his nature scenes. Sarah likes taking pictures with great depth of field because when you look a beautiful landscape you want everything to be in focus. She also likes the work of David Baily who was a portrait photographer in the 1960’s. David Baily took pictures of famous singers and models in Britain. She also enjoys looking at abstract artwork that has bright colors. Annie Leibowitz is another famous portrait photographer who inspires some of the photos Sarah takes. Sarah went to the Annie Leibowitz exhibit at the Corcoran museum in D.C. in December, 2007. This show has influenced Sarah because she now wants to take formal portraits of people.
Sarah DiNardo has changed as a photographer in the past year because she has made mistakes, learned from her mistakes and has experienced what it is like to be a photographer first hand. She has learned a lot because her teacher gave her lots of direction in the beginning of the year and then let the class take those skills and apply them to real life situations. Sarah has enjoyed the experience of taking photography one and hopes to keep taking photographs through out her life. Now that Sarah is in photo two she is learning more about the digital aspect of photography. She has learned how to create digital images through the use of Photoshop Elements. She is still developing her skills of using a camera especially the new digital camera.

This picture was from the every 30 minutes project! This image is of Old Kenyon at Kenyon College in Ohio. I did this project when I was visiting my sister during family weekend in October. I posted this picture because it was creepy looking and the building is actually haunted so it was funny that the picture that I took was scary looking!
This image was taken for the details project. Many people did not know what this picture was of becuase of the reflection that was made on the glass. The subject of this photo is a huge glass lamp that is in my living room. I chose this image because it was the most interesting and becuase I zoomed in super close to the image no one exactly knew what it was.
